Why "The Red Balloon"?
... because when your child is small, you tie his or her balloon to the wrist to keep it from floating away. We believe that education and, more importantly, learning should be the same way. It should be tied to the child, mind and body and soul, in order for it to keep from floating away. Education should encompass the entire person. Learning should be a joyous, enlightening experience that stays with the student.
Who are we?
We are a mother and daughter, ages 48 and 15, who dream of becoming teachers.
Mom: Barb, wants to become a learning disabilities/literacy specialist. She has completed her Associates Degrees in Human Services Management at Cerro Coso Community College, and is finishing up her Associates in Child Development and her online teaching certificate. Next, she will begin work on her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education.
Daughter: Ellie, wants to become a middle school history teacher. She is halfway through high school, though she has already begun taking online college courses (quite successfully!). Her dream is to obtain her Associates in Child Development by the time she graduates from high school.
